Casa del Niño ContinuesTradition of Excellence Through SciMath Month Celebration 2021

Based on a report submitted by Mr. Vincent Bryan Quilapio Reyes, Math Teacher.

From September 20 to 24, 2021, Casa del Niño Science High School celebrated its

Science-Mathematics Month Celebration, proof that the institution continues the delivery of Excellence amid Adversity.

Veering away from the prescribed theme, CDNSHS proposed its own, to wit: Scientific and Mathematical Literacy for the Modern World: The Catalysts in Reinventing the Future

The Sci-Math Month, organized and managed by both Science and Mathematics Department, is an annual undertaking that aims to promote the significance of scientific and mathematical knowledge in different aspects of life.

In this new normal education, the departments came up with an alternative idea to celebrate this by having online and interactive contested activities instead of the usual traditional face to face activities. The activities aimed to encourage the students to showcase their intellectual capability, talents, and creativity that boosted and developed their self-confidence.

Moreover, the event provided the students with a holistic understanding and awareness of the significant roles of Science and Mathematics in building a brighter and stronger nation for the future generations.

The Sci-Math Month celebration aimed to:

  • promote strong scientific and mathematical literacy and background to the students;
  • raise the level of consciousness and participation of the students in different scientific and mathematical activities; and
  • sustain efforts in developing a useful understanding of scientific and mathematical concepts that the students can use in the future.

The celebration of SciMath Month this year is proof of the resilience of the school and its single-minded mission to continue the delivery of quality education despite the ongoing pandemic.
