CDNMS PHASE 6 CAMPUS TRAINED IN DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

Teachers guide the pupils as they proceed to the designated open space beside the school for safety while they await further instructions.

The Pre-School and Elementary Departments of Casa del Niño Montessori School in San Pedro, Laguna experienced last Thursday, 30 July 2015 the processes of evacuation in case of an earthquake.  It was an orderly exercise thanks to the reminders of the teachers for everyone to stay calm and collected during the training.

Before the drill, Mr. Ramon C. Belizario briefed the teachers and students regarding the correct procedures to follow in case of an emergency such as an earthquake.  He emphasized the need for the exercise so that when the time comes for an actual evacuation, the pupils will feel less tense during a crisis.

Reactions from parents were positive and the common feedback was that the earthquake drill is a re-enforcement of the school’s commitment for preparedness not only in academics but also training for real life situations.

PAG-IBIG Brings ID Processing to CDNSSI

CDN employees wait for their pictures to be taken during the special ID processing made easier by PagIBIG.

Pag-IBIG employees visited the CDN Pacita 2 Campus Wednesday, July 15, to make the process of securing an identification card easier.  Three male employees of the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) more popularly known as Pag-IBIG brought their equipment to take individual pictures of the employees while encoding pertinent data for the card which is a government issued ID, hence, it is valid for use in most transactions.

Teachers and staff from the campuses of Pacita 2, Phase 6 and Biñan took advantage of the opportunity to minimize the effort instead of commuting to the HDMF offices where they have to wait in line for their turn.

The PagIBIG fund was established by the government in 1978 to answer the need for a national savings program and an affordable shelter financing for the Filipino worker.  Many member employees not only in CDN but also in the whole country have benefitted from loans and home acquisition assistance through the HDMF.

CDN CONDUCTS SURPRISE EARTHQUAKE EVACUATION FOLLOWED BY FIRE DRILL

For the second time this month, an earthquake drill was conducted last Tuesday, June 16, but this time, it was unannounced.  Mr. Ramon Belizario, who  managed the practice evactuation, said “This is to test the alertness and preparedness of both teachers and students.”

Noticing that the students were doing it wrong, the earthquake drill was repeated until they got it right.

A fire drill followed where a bonfire was lit and some teachers and students were asked to extinguish the flames to demonstrate to the  general assembly the proper way of putting out a fire.  Several fire extinguishers were consumed as the exercise was done repeatedly to immerse the Casans in the experience.

The Principal, Mr. Richard Pustasa, commented that this was being done to prepare the students for disasters that might come in the future.  More of these drills will be done throughout the school.
